Happy Friday!!
Wherever you are, I hope you’re having a wonderful end to the week. Hopefully, the weather is kind to you. Where I am, the cold finally broke a bit and it’s only 36 degrees Fahrenheit.
I swear some point soon, I am going to get on a schedule on which day I send out this newsletter. Just getting used to it and my other job gets busy, so I forgot. But either way my apologies for the inconsistency and a thank you for all of you who read and interact with my stories.
A special thank you for people who have signed up recently! Welcome to the wild ride that is my writing.
This week has been a crazy rewarding work for my writing. I’d like to think that I write just for myself but I’d be lying if said I didn’t care about views or viewer interaction. This whole month of December (so far), it seems my views have been lower than October or November. It seems I’m not alone, both the Medium Facebook groups I’m in have been voicing the same concerns.
But the past few days, thank God, I’ve had a lot of high notes. My spirits were starting to get low but they are soaring high now, which is a great feeling going into the holidays.
Eight of my eleven recent stories have been curated! I even went on a 5 story curation streak, longest one so far. Woah! My stats, in general, have gone back up. I finally broke 300 followers on Medium!! And lastly, I got three “Top Writer” statuses this past week. So now I am a Top Writer in LGBTQ, Advice, Humor, and This Happened To Me.
I’m so grateful for all of these positive responses and so happy that some of my work is resonating with people.
I’m also doing my final holiday shopping push. I LOVE buying and making people gifts so this is very therapeutic for me. Slightly stressful as far as spending money I don’t really have but this year, I’ve done a better job at pacing out my shopping which helps.
This weekend I am finishing up my boyfriend’s present. He’s super stressed right now so I decided to throw out (figuratively) my original ideas and went with more practical gifts. Got him some Airpods to use at work and a bunch of comfy pajamas because if he’s not working, you won’t catch him in real clothes.
But that felt boring for a gift. So to spruce it up I am painting or drawing 5 pieces to attach to each pair of pajama bottoms. Each of them are going to be from his top 5 animes. So far I finished 1 painting, halfway through 1 drawing, and practiced 4/5 pieces. I am super happy with my Naruto one. And hopeful the others will look somewhat decent!
Here are some links to my stories! Please check out whichever ones you like, they are all friend links so you can share them with anyone! Thank you in advance for your support and time, I really appreciate all of you 🖤
Holiday Gift Ideas For Procrastinators [Relationships]
Since I love giving people gifts, this piece was so fun to write! It is just a bunch of suggestions for gifts for different people in your life and the approaches I take to my gift buying/making. Sections for significant other, parents, friends, siblings, children, and coworkers. There’s also a section for handmaid gifts, gift card ideas, and stocking stuffers. Super proud of this piece because it got curated and I got a message that it’s on Medium’s homepages as well, woah!
Money Doesn’t Buy Happiness- Except It 100% Does [Money, Basic Income]
Because I wrote this article super quickly, I honestly wasn’t expecting the reception it has gotten. It got curated in two different topics and has over 35 fans and 5 responses! This is probably my second most interacted with piece. I have very strong feelings about this topic so I guess it just goes to show that when you write what you’re passionate about, it pays off! Short but important read.
Sometimes I Use My Body To Get What I Want [Sexuality]
“But unfortunately, the society that we currently live in oversexualizes women. So I for one intend to capitalize on this system. If I can use my body to get a drink here and there or appear more memorable to a potential employer, I have no issue doing so. I’m just manipulating the unjust system that is already in place.”
My Love Of Music Lead Me To Solo Travel
About the time I last minute went to Sweden by myself to go to a music festival to see my favorite band. I almost missed my bus TWICE and was nervous to be alone, but such a rewarding experience.
Chronic Nightmares Make Sleep Unbearable [Mental Health]
As someone who struggles with chronic nightmares, I wrote this one after a particularly brutal night. Just about my journey and the challenges this presents. Equipped with some advice for people who struggle with PTSD and anxiety.
I Want To Succeed As Bad As I Want To Breathe
“My desire to succeed could not sustain itself because I was depriving myself of basic necessities. Success must be multidimensional, otherwise, it’s almost inevitable you will crash as I did.”
Time’s Up Golden Globes [Film]
For the fifth year in a row, no woman has been nominated for Best Director in a Motion Picture. This piece discusses the inequality present in Hollywood and paints a very important comparison between the male-nominated films and the snubbed female-directed films.
That is all for this week! I hope you all have a restful weekend and Happy Holidays for everyone who is celebrating anything. I hope you have a peaceful time and I appreciate all the support for my writing.
Thanks for following me on Medium, and please consider giving me a follow over on Twitter, too!
You can now also buy me a coffee if you feel like my work deserves more love!
Much love,
Faith
